Brent Douglas
Brent Douglas has more than 20 years of experience in helping businesses of all shapes and sizes solve problems. His executive leadership and vision in the areas of technology and product development, operational improvement, and strategic business planning have consistently driven improved growth and performance.
Most recently, Brent served as the Vice President of Operations for MD Building Products (formerly Macklanburg-Duncan), a 500-employee construction products company with over $140 million in annual revenues. While at MD, his focus on lean manufacturing methodologies and optimizing the company’s outdated planning processes set the stage for significant improvements in the Company’s bottom line. Mr. Douglas also had a significant impact at SmartTool Technologies, a subsidiary of MD Building Products, where he served as Chief Operating Officer. Under his leadership, that company saw over a thirty-percent increase in sales and an increase of ten percentage points in gross profit.
Mr. Douglas began his career as an electrical design engineer and worked on a variety of technologies in the computer equipment, medical, industrial and government sectors. The bulk of this experience came while at Seagate Technologies, the world’s largest international manufacturer of computer disc drives with revenues of over $9 Billion. While at Seagate, Brent held successively more responsible positions including the leadership of a Product Development Engineering group and a Product Management group. He was serving as the Director of Seagate’s Product Management group and as a member of the Oklahoma City Site Management Team when the operations in Oklahoma City were significantly scaled back. Mr. Douglas left Seagate shortly thereafter.
Mr. Douglas’s exceptional track record of business improvement is based upon his ability to see the unique ‘big picture’ of a business, identify the critical issues, and develop a comprehensive plan to engage the people in an organization to resolve those issues and improve their performance.
Mr. Douglas holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration with special distinction from Oklahoma City University; a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University; and a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He is well bersed in Lean Manufacturing techniques, is certified as a Six Sigma green belt, and holds five U.S. patents. He lives in Edmond, OK with his wife and two sons.
